Amber was born on February 24, 1952 in Vincennes, to her parents the late Nathan Leo and Mary “Carolyn” (Hutcheson) Emmons. She was part of the first graduating class of South Putnam High School in 1969 and later studied at Franklin College in social work in her 40’s.

Amber married David James “Jim” Powell on November 5, 1971 at the Baptist Church in Garfield Park in Indianapolis and together they spent 44 loving years together until his passing in 2016.

Amber was a member of the Shephard of the Hills Lutheran Church in Brown County and was also part of their Lady’s Auxiliary. She loved to travel, especially if it meant seeing the ocean, and enjoyed tagging along on long hauls with her husband, Jim, who was an over the road truck driver. Amber will be missed by her children, Brandy Ann Emmons-Powell of Manassas Park, Virginia, Amber “Leigh” Powell-Adams of Franklin; grandchild, Lauren KayAnn Powell-Adams of Franklin; siblings, Anthony “Tony” Emmons of Brown County and Ann Ingram of Clearwater, FL.
