Dorothy Alice (Clifton) Harder, age 86 passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 25, 2019 at the Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. She was a resident of Brown County and former resident of Shoals.
Dorothy was born May 6, 1933, in Shoals, to the late Lawrence F. and Helen M. (Shaw) Clifton. She graduated from Shoals Red High School in 1948 at the age of 15 and later married Theodore “Ted” Harder Jr. on December 23, 1950 in Shoals. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2007 after 56 loving and devoted years of marriage.
Dorothy enjoyed sewing, flower and vegetable gardening and finding a good deal at yard sales and auctions. She was an artist and had the ability to turn black and white paintings into colorful works of art. Dorothy also enjoyed traveling and going to the casino with her husband. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She will be missed by her children: Mark Harder of Nineveh, Karen Harder of Edinburgh and Linda (Jeff) Boyer of Nineveh, daughter-in-law Diana Harder, grandchildren: Jerry Harder, Jennifer Grider, Ryan Harder, Cassie Harder, Cyle Vaughn, Megan Hasch, Bradley Alexander, and Evan Alexander, 15 great grandchildren, brother Stan Clifton and half sibling Dallas Albright.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence Clifton and Helen Moore, husband Ted, son Larry Harder, siblings: Donald, Floyd and Fred Clifton and half siblings Frank Clifton and Debbie Albright.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
