Thomas S. ‘Tom' Stropes, age 49, passed away all too soon on Sunday evening, July 28, 2019 at his home in Bargersville.
Tom was born June 25, 1970, in Franklin to his parents, Kim and Carolyn Sue (Aldrich) Stropes. He was a 1989 graduate of Franklin High School and went on to receive a degree in plumbing from Mechanical Skills Plumbing School in Indianapolis
Tom worked as a plumber with CMP Trades Inc. in Trafalgar for the past 4 years and prior to that he was employed by Kellie Plumbing Inc. in Franklin for 9 years.
Tom is survived by his wife of 8 years, Alisha ‘Ali' (Mendenhall) Stropes, whom he married on June 4, 2011 in Greenfield. He is also survived by his parents, Kim and Carolyn Sue Stropes of Bargersville; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Aldrich of Bargersville; step-children, Kyle McDonald of Bloomington, Michael McDonald of Martinsville, Seth (Cass) Hagan of Edinburgh, Danielle (Wade) Dickerson of Bedford and Alex Hagan of Bargersville; grandchildren, Liam Dickerson of Bedford and Ainsley Hagan of Edinburgh; siblings, Kim A. (Tami) Stropes of Shelbyville, Steven J. (Kelli) Stropes of Trafalgar, Jeff S. (Tonya) Stropes of Martinsville and Gregory S. (Valerie) Stropes of Morgantown; sister in law, Dena Stropes of Trafalgar; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Kimberly Sue Stropes and Kevin J. Stropes.
Tom was an active member of the Evangel Christian Church in Greenfield for the past 8 years. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable & flower gardens, bird watching and fishing. Tom also enjoyed playing basketball and learning how to play his grandfather's guitar by watching YouTube videos. He cherished the time trying out new recipes in the kitchen alongside his wife, Ali, and will be remembered for his love of all animals, especially his dogs.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the First Christian Church of Morgantown, 2717 S. Morgantown Road. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
