Joyce L. (Clark) Summers

Joyce L. (Clark) Summers, age 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 6, 2019 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Franklin.  She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Brown County and Vincennes.

Joyce was born April 19, 1936, in Indianapolis, to her parents, the late George and Margaret (Hungate) Clark.  She was a graduate of Reitz Memorial High School in Evansville and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She married Ray Summers on October 4, 1952 in Evansville.  He preceded her in death on July 31, 1988 after 36 loving years of marriage. Joyce was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Midget.

She is survived by her children, Larry (Judy) Summers of Bargersville, Steve (Shelley) Summers of North Carolina, David (Rita) Summers of Indianapolis, Ronald Summers of Mooresville, Brenda Summers of Franklin and Machelle Summers of Vincennes; siblings, Dolores (Bob) Gipson of Brown County and Sandra Johnson of Vincennes; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Joyce was a homemaker who enjoyed going for walks, tending to her garden and other outdoor activities. She was a fan of reality, animal and adventure television shows.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
