David Ray Hicks, age 72 passed away peacefully on Friday morning, September 13, 2019 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was a resident of Morgantown.
David was born December 10, 1946, in Indianapolis, to his parents, the late Lonnie W. and Beulah (Miller) Hicks. He was a 1966 graduate of Greenwood High School and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
David enjoyed working in the yard, listening to bluegrass and country music and enjoyed playing the banjo, guitar and harmonica. Most of all, David loved spending time with his family.
David is survived by his wife of 35 years, Naoma (Lovingood) Hicks, whom he married on December 10, 1983 in Greenwood. He is also survived by his children: David Ward (Julie) Hicks of Trafalgar, Johanna (Jeff) Hotopp of Franklin and Scott (Jamie) Murphy of Nashville Tennessee, brother, Tom (Donna) Hicks of Greenwood; grandchildren: Alicia Long, Jared Hotopp, Katie Mahann, Katelyn Murphy, Aiden Hicks, Cohen Hicks and great grandchildren: Alex, Logan, McKenzie and Avery Jo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Phyllis Braasch and Patty Whitaker.
In keeping with his wishes, David will be cremated with no services. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
