Barbara J. (Cole) Miller-Jackson

Barbara J. (Cole) Miller-Jackson, age 94 passed away peacefully on Monday morning, November 4, 2019 at Homeview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Franklin.  She was a resident of Trafalgar.

Barbara was born June 8, 1925, in Palm Beach, FL, to the late Haldon V. and Edna L. (Wilson) Cole.  She was a 1943 graduate of Bucyrus High School in Bucyrus, Ohio and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 1968 after raising her family.  Barbara was a member of the Shelbyville Seventh Day Adventist Church and a member of the Marantha Volunteers International where she served two terms of missionary work in Honduras and Hawaii. She retired in 1980 from Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin where she had been employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 25 years. 

Barbara married Donald F. Miller on November 13, 1943 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1998. She then married Cranford C. Jackson of McDonald, Ohio on September 18, 1999.  He also preceded her in death on August 10, 2002.   

Barbara was also preceded in death by children, Mary Miller, Joseph D. Miller and Daniel L. Miller; and siblings, William D. Cole and Haldon V. Cole Jr.; and longtime companion, Dwight L. Coder.

She is survived by her children, Martha (Jim) Miller & Susannah VanWinkle, both of Morgantown and Rebekah (Pat) Haugh of Trafalgar; sister in law, Mary Helen Cole Snyder of Bucyrus, OH; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.

Barbara was a passionate artist and her paintings can be found throughout the United States.  She enjoyed golfing but felt her true calling was to serve others through volunteer and missionary work. Barbara volunteered with Three Angels Broadcasting Network in West Frankfort, Illinois, Adventist Community Services in Shelbyville and served as a Cutter for Faith Adventure Ministry of Los Angeles, California.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown.  Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
