Wilma J. (Shaw) Watson age 79 passed away Tuesday afternoon,
July 20, 2010 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a
resident of the Franklin United Methodist Community and former
resident Nashville.
Wilma was born August 25, 1930 in Indianapolis to the late Herman
E. and Hallie M. (Dinkins) Shaw Sr. She married Jesse L. Watson on
August 27, 1979 in Byrdstown, Tenn. He preceded her in death on
February 10, 1999 after 19 devoted years.
Wilma was a loving wife and homemaker. She worked part-time during
the 1970's for the Brown County Democrat Newspaper and at the Old
Hickory Restaurant both in Nashville. Wilma was a 50 year member of
the Calvary United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. She enjoyed
playing cards and leading Bingo at the Franklin United Methodist
Community. Wilma was a fan of Indiana University Basketball, loved
to read spiritual romance novels and enjoyed spending time with her
family and visiting the hills of Brown County.
She was the loving mother to Shirley A. (Donald) Brown of
Elizabethtown, Mary Alice (David) Jarrett of Shelbyville, Wilma Fay
(Charles) Bain of Bargersville, George David Watson of Greenwood,
Ronald L. (Cheryl) Watson of Speedway and Wm. Jay (Christy) Watson
of Speedway. She will be remembered by her four sisters: Alberta
Shrock of Nashville, JoAnn Leggins of Franklin, Christine McCurdy
of Deltona, FL & Thelma Ditchley of Beech Grove; two brothers:
Donald L. Sawyer & Norman Shaw both of Indianapolis. She was an
inspiration to her many grandchildren, great grandchildren &
great-great grandchildren.
Wilma was preceded in death by one sister: June Wilkerson and one
brother: Herman E. Shaw Jr.
