William E. "Bill" Day, age 79 passed away Saturday
evening, December 31, 2011 at his residence in Nashville. By his
side was his devoted wife of 59 years, Clara M. (Dailey) Day whom
he married on August 10, 1952 in BrownCounty.
Bill was born August 13, 1932 in Indianapolis to
the late Ernest and Alberta (Jacobs) Day. He was a 1950
graduate of Warren Central High School and went on to serve his
country as
a
Private with the United States Army.
Bill retired in 1996 as a farmer in Brown County
after 45 years of service. He was also retired from Burnside Ready
Mix in Columbus where he was a Truck Driver from 1952 to 1985.
Bill is survived by his wife and five loving
daughters: M. Lynn (husband, Randall) Henry of Brown County, Jenny
(husband, Jay) Moberly of Brown County, Peggy Hendershot of
Greenwood, Bev (husband, Aaron) Law of Marion & Marjie
(husband, Bill) Hicks of Brown County. He will be remembered by his
sister: Marilyn Sheetz of Arabian,Louisiana and his 12
grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother: Robert
Day and one granddaughter: Jaclynn Wray.
Bill attended the Neighborhood Church of God in
Brown County since 1970 and was a member of the Teamsters Union
Local 135. His true passion was working on his farm, raising
cattle, pigs, corn and hay. Bill enjoyed working the ground with
his dozer and spending time with his family. He was a fan of
Indiana University and Butler Basketball teams.
The Rev. Sam Harrington will conduct a funeral
service at 10:30 AM, Thursday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home
Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in
Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the
funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in
Morgantown with military graveside rites presented by the
Brown County American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor
Guards.
