Virretta A. (McNeely) Gardner age 77 passed away Sunday, March
28, 2010 at the Brown County Health & Living Community in
Nashville. She was a resident of Brown County.
Virretta was born November 17, 1932 in Indianapolis to the late
Ellis H. and Daisy I. (Wettestein) McNeely. She married her loving
husband of 47 years William Robert Gardner on November 24, 1950 in
Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1998.
Virretta will be remembered by her children: Delores A. Long, Tina
M. (Edward) Unger, Lori F. Hicks, James D. (Leslie) Gardner and
Robert L. (Kay) Gardner all of Brown County; and 26 grandchildren
& great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Barbara Rodgers; sons:
William Gardner Jr. & Odus Gardner; sister: Felicia F.
Tillberry and a brother: Clifford E. McNeely.
Virretta was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a 1950 graduate
of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis and was a member of the
Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Morgan County where she enjoyed singing
in the choir. Virretta was a former member of the Cottonwood
Christian Church in Brown County. She enjoyed crocheting, working
crossword puzzles and was a collector. Virretta was a fan of
Indiana University Basketball.
