Viola (Jones) Whalin - Wainscott, age 70 passed away Sunday morning, February 27, 2011 at Kindred Hospital Indianapolis South in Greenwood. She was a resident of Brown County.

Viola was born July 2, 1940 in Clay County, KY to the late Dave & Eliza Jones. She married her loving husband, Kelly N. Whalin in November of 1962. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1976.

She is survived by her two children: Carrie (husband, Donald) Miller and Bill M. Wilkerson both of Brown County; three grandchildren: Crystal Huber & Tammie Miller both of Brown County and Crystal Floyd of Martinsville; and two great grandchildren.

Viola was preceded in death by a son: Dean K. Whalin in October 20, 2004, a grandson: Colten Huber on April 29, 2009 and a close friend: A.D. Norris on November 29, 2008.

Viola worked as a Home Health Care Nurse in Morgan County and Brown County for over 30 years.

She attended the Unity Baptist Church in Brown County and was an avid reader of her Bible. Viola enjoyed playing Bingo, fishing and cooking. She was known for her great Chicken n' Dumplings. Viola loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

The Rev. Gary Link will conduct a Funeral Service 10:30 AM Thursday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Viola will be laid to rest at the Unity Baptist Church Cemetery in Brown County.
