Thelma W. (Branam) Richards age 94 passed away December 7, 2010.
She was a resident of Brown County.
Thelma and her twin sister were born on July 4, 1916 in Travlac to
the late William & Laura (McClary) Branam. She married Floyd
Mann on October 19, 1935 in Brown County. He preceded her in death
on February 10, 1965. She later married Robert M. Richards on
January 1, 1979 in Greenwood. He also preceded her in death on
March 15, 2002.
Thelma was a 1934 graduate of Helmsburg High School and attended
the Cottonwood Christian Church in Brown County. She was a loving
mother and homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family, cooking,
and gardening.
Thelma was the cherished mother of Virginia F. Ellis, and her
husband Sidney of Greenwood & Mary Ellen Witt of Franklin.
Thelma was grandma to Michael & Mark Ellis, Nancy Conley, Laura
Woodard, Kevin, Barry, Doug, Craig & Krissy Witt; foster children:
Clyde & Donna Pettit, Pam Esselborn, Debbie Byrd, Mary Tuxhorn
& Diane Jones; step children: Betty Richards, Barbara
Hutcheson, Colleen Patterson, Janet Polasky, Kathleen Dinwiddie,
Stanley, Steve & Dennis Richards; twin sister to: Wilma Zink of
Morgantown. Thelma is also survived by several great grandchildren
and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Norman Witt.
The Rev. Darrel Miller will conduct a funeral service 11 am
Saturday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization
Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from
4 to 8 pm on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bear
Creek Cemetery in Brown County.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Thelma to Cottonwood
Christian Church, 2523 Cottonwood Road Morgantown, IN 46160 or to
Donor's favorite charity.
