Shirley H. (Hommel) Neumann, age 75 passed away Friday morning,
April 29, 2011 at her residence in Franklin.
She was born August 17, 1935, in Franklin to the late Ralph Steven
and Florence (Lambert) Hommel. Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Union
High School and went on to marry John Kenneth Neumann on February
18, 1955 in Martinsville. John and Shirley raised their family from
1955 to 1977 in Coldspring, Texas before moving back to the Johnson
County area. He preceded her in death after 49 loving years on
January 11, 2005.
Shirley was the loving mother and homemaker to two daughters: Angie
Kaye (husband, Terry) Logsdon of Franklin & Peggy Jo Moynahan
of Dickinson, TX; two sons: David Allen Neumann of Needham &
Kenneth Ray (wife, Glenda) Neumann of Houston, TX. She will be
missed by her four sisters: Betty Hatfield of Brown County, Joan
(husband, Don) Funk of Brazil, Sandy (husband, Floyd) Watson of
Trafalgar and Janet (husband John) Olivo of Bargersville; six
brothers: Frank (wife, Betty) Hommel of Greenwood, Don Hommel,
Steve Hommel, Joe (wife, Judy) Hommel, Mike Hommel and Tim Hommel
all of Franklin; 12 grandchildren: Amber Headley, Adam, Ashley
& Abby Niederhofer, Shaun & Brandon Neumann, Carrie Wagnon,
Tony & Daniel Neumann, Brandi Hargraves, Kelly & Darren
Logsdon and 12 great Â- grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Anna Marie
Neumann & a great granddaughter: Olivia Hargraves.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a past PTA
Vice-President in Coldspring, TX. Shirley enjoyed gardening and
cooking for her family. She cherished the time spent with her
family and especially her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Doug Bohall will conduct a funeral service 10 am on Monday
at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization
Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from
3 to 5 pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest
Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
