Mary Jane (Cook) Funkhouser age 78 passed away Tuesday morning,
November 16, 2010 at her residence in Morgantown.
She was born May 16, 1932, in Morgan County to the late Floyd D.
and Louise (McPhearson) Cook. Mary Jane married her loving husband
of 58 years Curtis W. Funkhouser on April 20, 1952 at the Christian
Chapel Church in Johnson County. He survives.
She was a 1950 graduate of Union High School and participated in
the first Morgan County Queen Contest placing runner-up. Mary Jane
was a 63 year member of The General Assembly and Church of the
Firstborn in Morgantown and had a passion for music and enjoyed
singing with her sisters on the radio. She loved to play the banjo,
violin and mandolin. Mary Jane enjoyed traveling with her husband,
reading her Bible, quilting and was very competitive player of
board games & cards. She enjoyed spending time with her family
and grandchildren.
She was the devoted mother to her children: Angela C. Funkhouser of
Greenwood, Kevin Eugene (Jamie) Funkhouser of Morgantown &
Douglas Bryan (Tina) Funkhouser of Whiteland. Mary Jane will be
remembered by her sister: Carolyn Webb of Whiteland; brothers: Mike
Cook of Whitestown, Mark Cook of Montgomery, TX & Dennis Cook
of Martinsville; 6 grandchildren & 6 Great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son: Curtis "Tony" Funkhouser;
sisters: Talue Watkins & Betty Schmidt; Grandchildren: Jarrod,
Benjamin & Mackenzie Funkhouser.
Brothers Kip Payton & Mike Day will conduct a funeral service
10 am Saturday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation &
Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown.
Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery Morgantown. Friends may call
from 4 to 8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
