| Service Date: | Father John Hall & Pastor Dan Law Jr. will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Saturday at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, 1008 Mclary Road in Nashville, burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville. Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 pm Friday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 pm on Friday at the funeral home. |
Mary E. (Smith) Purdue-Worrell, age 94 passed away Tuesday
evening, September 7, 2010 at Morgan Hospital & Medical Center
in Martinsville. She was a resident of Brown County.
Mary left this life one day short of her 95th Birthday to go home
to be with the Lord.
She was born September 8, 1915 in Washington to the late Henry
& Jennie (Smith) Smith. Mary married Wilbert A. Purdue on
August 8, 1939 in Washington and he preceded her in death on
February 23, 1987 after 47 loving years. She later married Ernie
Worrell in Brown County and he preceded her in death in February of
1995.
Mary retired in 1977 as a Bank Teller for Indiana National Bank in
Indianapolis after 25 years of service. She has been a member of
the Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville for more than 50 years
and attended the Hickory Ridge Senior Center in Brown County. Mary enjoyed
dancing up to age 91 and playing cards. She loved to read novels,
write poetry and spend time with her family and best friend Jean
Gish of Whiteland.
Mary leaves to mourn her passing one daughter: Sheryl J. Priddy,
and husband William of Brown County, step daughter: Georgina
Heeringa, and husband Charlie of out of state, step son: Frank
Worrell, and wife Barb of Martinsville; 10 grandchildren, 7 step
grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren
and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Wilbert A. Purdue Jr. &
Anthony Ray Purdue; one step daughter: Linda Smith; three sisters:
Marie, Julie & Camilla; one brother: Russell Smith and one
great granddaughter: Amanda Purdue.
