Margaret Helen ( Wagner ) Gatewood, age 87, passed away Tuesday morning, October 18, 2011 at her residence in Brown County.

She was born December 2, 1923 in Marion County to the late John P. and Mary J. (Heaseldenz) Wagner.  Margaret married Charles E. Gatewood on July 24, 1948 in Frankfort.  He preceded her in death after 50 loving years on January 27, 1999.

Margaret was a homemaker and worked during the 1940's at the Tee Pee Resturant and Eli Lilly & Company both in Indianapolis.

Margaret is survived by one daughter:  Suzanne M. Zupancic and husband Charlie of Morgantown; two sons:  Charles E. "Chip" Gatewood II and wife Rita of Morgantown  &  John Allen Gatewood and wife Debbie of Nashville; one brother:  John "Bud" Wagner of Indianapolis; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters:  Mary Josephine Neal and Ann Knoll.

Margaret was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville where she participated in the Ladies Auxilary Group.  She was also a member of the Hickory Ridge Senior Center and the Brown County Home Economic Club.  Margaret enjoyed wintering with her husband for more than 37 years at the Fort Wilderness Campground at Walt Disney World in Florida.  She also enjoyed doing crafts.

Father Paul Koetter will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am Friday at the St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1008 McLary Road in Nashville.  Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center.

Memorial Contributions may be made in honor of Margaret to the Hickory Ridge Senior Center,  2314 Hickory Ridge Lane, Morgantown, IN 46160.

    Our deepest sympathy to Margaret's family. May the memories that we hold in our hearts give us peace. We have such beautiful memories of Margaret and Charles when St. Agnes was at the log chapel. We even visited them in our once in a lifetime visit to Walt Disney World in Florida. She was a funny and wonderful person.
