Jerry J. "Perky" Perkins age 72 of Nashville, entered into eternal life on February 4, 2011. He was at home and surrounded by family at the time of his passing. Jerry was a former resident of Brazil.

He was born July 23, 1938 in Arcola, IL. Jerry's parents were the late Allen James and Anna Marie (Alhrich) Perkins. He served as an E4 with the United States Navy from October 31, 1955 to July 22, 1959.

On December 12, 1959, he married his sweetheart of 49 years, Carolyn "Sue" Bates in a private ceremony in the chapel of the First Christian Church in Charleston, IL. Sue preceded him in death on August 27, 2009.

Jerry is survived by his daughter: Lori Ann (husband Chester) Morgan of Nashville; two sons: Scott (wife Barb) Perkins & Timothy (wife Julie) Perkins both of Nashville; one sister: Helen (husband William) Burwell of Urbana, IL; six grandchildren: Jeffrey Allen Morgan of Carmel, Elijah Scott Perkins, Kayla Elyse Perkins, Matthew Tyler Perkins, Michael Perkins & Samantha Perkins all of Nashville.

He was preceded in death by three sons: Michael Perkins and infant twins: Matthew & Mark Perkins; four brothers: Don, Paul, Linden & Burlie Perkins.

During his lifetime he and his wife owned and operated Jerry J. Perkins & Sons Printing in Cory, Perfam Printing and Valley Printing both in Brazil. They later moved to Brown County where they owned Indiana Log Homes Inc. for over 25 years. Jerry and his wife also owned and operated the Victoria House Bed & Breakfast and later the Great American Merchandising Co. Gift Shop. After retirement he and Sue spent several years traveling.

Jerry was a member of the First Christian Church in Brazil. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and wood working. He was an avid fan of John Wayne and western movies. Jerry was a gun collector and loved spending time with his family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 12th at the Faith Full Gospel Church, 6881 St. Rd. 135 in Brown County. Friends may call from noon till service time at the church. Military rites will be presented by the Brown County Honor Guard following the funeral service at the church. A private family graveside will be held at Mound Cemetery in Charleston, IL.
