Vestal Henrietta (Miller) Hickman of Morgantown passed away on Tuesday, November 16th, 2010 at Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis. Born July 12th, 1928 in Morgan County to the late Chester A. and Chattie (Wade) Miller, she graduated from Morgantown High School in 1946. Henrietta attended Franklin College and graduated from Canterbury College in 1950. She majored in Business Education and Music; she also belonged to the social sororities Delta Delta Delta & Alpha Theta Epsilon.

Henrietta married Asbury "Mac" Hickman on September 29th, 1951 in Morgantown; he preceded her in death on February 14th, 2000. They resided in Martinsville until 1956, at which time they moved to Orlando, FL and entered into business with his parents.

During the 1940's and 1950's, Henrietta was a secretary in several offices at Camp Atterbury, and Secretary at Morgan County Insurance Agency in Martinsville.

She taught in many schools in Florida, including ones in Leesburg, Groveland, Titusville and Jacksonville. Henrietta attended many colleges and universities while living in Florida.

In 1960, she became Secretary/Treasurer of Hickman Manufacturing in Leesburg, FL, manufacturer of institutional casework. While living in Leesburg, she helped organize the Pink Ladies Auxiliary of Leesburg General Hospital. Henrietta was a member of Triangle Club, Leesburg and a charter member of the Alpha Lambda Chapter, Epsilon Sigma Alpha. She held many offices in the Leesburg Junior Woman's Club and was honored for her work by being make a lifetime honorary member of the Junior and Senior Woman's Clubs of Leesburg. Henrietta was a member of the Morrison Memorial Methodist Church, Leesburg, where she sang in the choir and was active in a Women's Circle.

She was a charter member of Morgan County History & Genealogy Association, a member of Morgan County Historic Preservation Society, a member of the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana and a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Henrietta was a member of the Morgantown United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School in the Children's Department and served as Church Historian for over 25 years.

She is survived by her sister: Mary Elizabeth (Miller) Stockton of Morgantown; nephew Thomas A. Stockton and his wife Maryann of Indianapolis; niece Kay L. Stockton of Morgantown and several other nieces and nephews; two infants: Susan Elizabeth & Christopher M. Hickman preceded her in death.

A fellowship gathering to celebrate the life of Henrietta will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010, at the Morgantown United Methodist Church from 2-4pm. Burial will at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Henrietta to the charity of the donor's choice.
