Gladys W. (Allen) Graham, age 89 passed away
peacefully Saturday morning,October 29, 2011 at the Morning
Pointe Assisted Living in Franklin. She was a resident of
Trafalgar.
Gladys was born October 30, 1921 inTroy, MO to the
late Claude Rush and Rosa Anna (Stepanek) Allen. She married
her loving husband of 50 years, James J. "Jamie" Graham II on March
28, 1941 in Troy,MO. He preceded her in death on July 2,
1991.
Gladys was a 1939 graduate of Eolia High School in
Eolia, MO.Gladys was a homemaker and worked for H.A.J. Warner
Brooker Food Co. in Indianapolis during the 1970's.
Gladys is survived by her children: Janice L. Park
of Princes Lakes, Alice M. (Tom) Reynolds of Bloomington, Linda S.
(Don) Hadley of Edinburgh & James J. (Linda) Graham Jr. of
Kennesaw, GA; one brother: Charles Allen of Avon; two sisters: Anna
Elizabeth Bower of Bowling Green, MO, Norma Fern Graham of Troy,
MO. She will be remembered by her 13 grandchildren, 23 great
grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter:
Gladys J. Stiers; two sisters: Mary Edna Owen & Doris Grote;
three brothers: Bud, Elmer & Melvin Allen.
She was a member of the Samaria Christian
Church and was the past president of the Indiana Chapter of
American War Mothers. Gladys also was a past Nobel Grand of
Rebekahs Lodge in Morgantown, a member of the Trafalgar Order of
the Eastern Star & the Royal Order of Amaranth. Gladys was also
a member of the Morgantown Garden Club and a lifetime member of the
White Shrine in Indianapolis. One of her greatest fulfillments in
life was recording over 12,000 hours volunteering at the VA
Hospital in Indianapolis where she visited, made cookies and
crocheted hats, scarf's & booties for the patients.
Gladys enjoyed collecting teddy bears with a
collection of over 400 bears.
Mr. David Hogue will conduct a funeral
service 11 am Wednesday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation
& Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in
Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday at the
funeral home. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at East
Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. An Order of Eastern Star Memorial
Service will be held at 7:30 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
