Jean (Waltz) Pruitt age 84 passed away Saturday afternoon, April 16, 2011 at Franciscan/St. Francis Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was a life-long resident of Trafalgar.

Jean was born February 4, 1927 in Johnson County to the late Leslie and Lena (Coy) Waltz. She married James E. "Jim" Pruitt on October 4, 1947 in Nineveh. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2002 after 54 loving years.

Survivors include one sister: Rheta (husband, Herbert) Cook of Trafalgar; four brothers: Dale (wife, Irene) Waltz, Herschell (wife, DeAnn) Waltz & Dwight Waltz all of Trafalgar and Lyle (wife, Frankie) Waltz of Valley Grand, Alabama. Jean is also survived by several nieces & nephews, great nieces and nephews & great-great nieces & nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by four brothers: Vernon "V.M.", Scherrel, Wendell & Dean Waltz; one sister-in-law: Florence Jean Waltz; two nieces: Debbie Love & Karen Sue Waltz and one nephew: Randy Waltz.

She started in 1947, working as a Folder for the Varynit Mills Factory in Franklin, which became the Empire Factory and then later became the KaJee Factory which she retired from in 1985 after 38 years of service. After retirement, Jean went to work as a sander for R & L Cabinet Company in Trafalgar.

Jean was a 1945 graduate of Trafalgar High School, she attended the Samaria Christian Church since 1946, and was a 55 year member of the Trafalgar Extension of Homemakers. She was also a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Trafalgar and was a very active member of the Morgantown Senior Center. Jean loved spending time and taking care of her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed playing euchre, working in her flower gardens and baking. Jean was known for her lemon meringue pies.

The Rev. Rocky Baire will conduct a funeral service 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 3 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
