Edith K. (Akers) Galt, age 72 passed away Wednesday evening, February 2, 2011 at Indiana University Health West Hospital in Avon. She was a resident of Mooresville and former resident of Evansville & Fort Myers, Florida.

Edith was born June 3, 1938 in Radford, VA, to the late Hobert and Roberta (Ratcliffe) Akers. She married her loving husband of 55 years Charles W. "Bill" Galt on July 16, 1955 in South Bend. He survives.

Edith was cherished by her two children: Kathi (husband David) Mortensen of Mooresville & Charles "Charlie" Galt Jr. of Mt. Vernon. She will be remembered by her two brothers: Charlie Akers of Pulaski, VA & Harmon Akers of Radford, VA; three grandsons: Jason, Jeremy & Jared Galt all of Evansville; one granddaughter: Brandi (husband Todd) Ramey of Mooresville and one great grandson: Elijah Ramey of Mooresville.

Edith was preceded in death by two sisters: Hazel Richmond & Dorris Hong; one brother: Nathan Akers.

Edith was a 1975 graduate of the House of James Beauty College in Indianapolis and attended the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Morgantown.

Edith retired in 1994 as self-employed Beautician working in the Indianapolis area for more than 20 years. She also worked at the Yellow Moon Antique Store in Mooresville for the last 10 years. Edith loved spending time with her family and visiting auctions and flea markets looking for antiques. She was a fan of watching the Antique Road Show on television.

The Rev. John Crump will conduct a funeral service 10:30 am Monday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 1 to 5 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
