Service Date:The Rev. Steve Brown will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 am, Tuesday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.

Donald W. "Don" Purdue, age 70 passed away Friday morning, April 23, 2010 at The Waters of Martinsville. He was a resident of Nashville.

Don was born in Evansville on May 18, 1939 to the late Carl R. and Dorothy (Roberts) Purdue. He married his loving wife of 52 years, Lucille (Finch) on December 14, 1957 in Indianapolis. She survives.

Don was a 1958 graduate of Warren Central High School in Indianapolis and attended the University of Indianapolis. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Morgan County, Jaycees of Beech Grove where he was past treasurer and a proud member of the National Rifle Association.

Don retired in 2008 as a truck driver for Celadon Trucking Company in Indianapolis. Prior to that, he was the owner and operator of C & D Enterprises in Indianapolis for 30 years.

Don enjoyed living and boating on Lake Lemon. He loved the outdoors, squirrel hunting and fishing. He was an avid reader of historical writings and his Bible. Don was a fan of Indiana University Basketball, NASCAR racing and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his dog Casper.

Don will be missed by his children: Carla M. Heim and her husband Jim of Peoria, AZ, Stefania L. Purdue -Tewell and her husband William of Indianapolis, Ron A. Purdue and his wife Debbie of Lawrence, and Marty W. Purdue and his wife Dawn of Martinsville. He was an inspiration to his nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
