Donald C. Goens, age 85 passed away Wednesday evening, February 16, 2011 at his residence in Nashville.

He was born September 4, 1925 in Seymour to the late Clarence and Inez (Ferguson) Goens. Donald married Charlotte L. (McAree) Goens on February 14, 1948 in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death on May 10, 1996. He later married Shirley Ann (Frazier) Goens on May 17, 2000 in London, Ky. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2009.

Survivors include one daughter: Linda L. Farmer (husband, David) of Indianapolis; one son: Andrew M. "Andy" (wife, Kimberly) Goens of Greencastle; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by one son: Gregory Goens; infant daughter: Barbara Goens and a sister: Betty Buck.

He was a 1941 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis and attended Gunnery School. Donald served as a Seaman 1st Class with the United States Navy during World War II.

He retired as a Mechanic, after 26 years of service with Atech Associates in Indianapolis. Prior to that, Donald held the same position for 12 years with Colonial Bread and 11 years with Otis Spunkmeyer both of Indianapolis. He also was the owner & operator of Gulf Gas Station in Indianapolis from 1957 to 1960.

He was a member of the Bear Creek Church in Brown County since 1998 and was a member of the American Legion Post #24 in Columbus. Donald was also a member of the Moose Lodge #2138 in Indianapolis and the Robert E. Kennington American Legion Post 34 in Westfield. Donald enjoyed the outdoors, boating, fishing and camping. He also loved to travel.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a Celebration of Life Service 7 pm Tuesday evening at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 5 pm until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The Brown County American Legion & Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guards will conduct a Military Service Tuesday evening following the memorial service at the funeral home.
