Dolores A. (Ackerman) Kemp, age 72 went home to be
with the Lord on Wednesday morning, February 1, 2012 at her
residence in Morgantown.
She was born August 18, 1939 in Indianapolis and
was a 1957 graduate of Helmsburg High School in Brown County.
She married her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Richard L.
Kemp on October 1, 1963 in Martinsville. He survives.
Dolores was a homemaker, 47 year member of the
Morgantown Baptist Church and a former member of the Indiana
American War Mothers. She enjoyed baking, flower gardening,
playing on her computer and reading her Bible. She loved her family
and enjoyed spending time with her two grandchildren. Dolores also
enjoyed feeding the hummingbirds.
Dolores is survived by her daughter: Michelle
(husband, Phillip) Armstrong of Morgantown; two sons: Henry E. Kemp
of Columbia, TN & Trent M. (wife, Cindy) Kemp of Millbrook, AL.
She will be remembered by her siblings: Reena (husband, Pete)
Oltman of Columbus & Kay (husband, Don) Pruitt of Winter Park,
FL, Charles & Dale Runner; two grandchildren: Mia Kemp of
Atlanta, GA & Jason Kemp of Jacksonville, FL and a daughter in
law: Rebecca Kemp of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Dorothy
A. Ackerman; grandparents: Raymond & Anna Ackerman; and one
brother: Joe Nicholson.
The Rev. Ben Swopes will conduct a funeral service
10 am Saturday at the Morgantown Baptist Church, 109 E. Elm St. in
Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Friday at the
church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark
Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in
Morgantown. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery
in Morgantown.
