Charles Thomas "Tom" Ross, age 80 passed away after a brief
illness on Saturday, October 9, at his residence in Samaria, with
his loving family and friends by his side. Tom was a life long
resident of Johnson County. He was born October 26, 1929, in
Franklin, and was the only child of the late George Leslie and
Bessie Jane (Ratliff) Ross.
Tom was a 1947 graduate of Trafalgar High School. He and his
father owned a trucking company and farmed for many years.
Tom had a bustling firewood business until just shortly before
his death. He enjoyed sitting on his porch waving at everyone who
honked, gardening, and storytelling with friends who would stop by
to visit. Tom was a member of Samaria Christian Church.
He will be missed by his loving family of one son: Randy T. Ross
and wife Sharon of Trafalgar; two daughters: Cindy Flora and
husband Ralph & Amanda Flora and husband Chris both of
Morgantown. Tom leaves behind his seven grandchildren & ten
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his former wife: Elizabeth Ann
(Merriman) Ross on September 22, 2003.
The Rev. Ed Tharpe & Ralph Flora will conduct a funeral service
at 11:00 am on Wednesday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation
& Personalization Center, 179 East Mulberry Street, Morgantown.
Friends may call from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Tuesday evening at the
funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in
Morgantown.
Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Tom to the Donor's
favorite charity.
