Service Date:The Rev. James Brown will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 am, Monday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home,179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bear Creek Church Cemetery in Brown County with military graveside rites presented by the Brown County American Legion & Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guards. A Masonic Service will be conducted by the Brown County Masonic Lodge on Sunday at 5:30 pm at the funeral home.

C. Marvin Cody, age 79 passed away Thursday morning, August 4, 2011 at his residence in Brown County.  He was a life-long resident of Brown County and the owner and operator of Cody & Sons Trucking & Excavating based in Helmsburg for the past 45 years.

 Marvin was born on January 7, 1932 in Brown County to the late Pleasant Gwinn & Edith Rose (Bingham) Cody. After attending school in Brown County, Marvin served as a Fireman, Boiler Technician Striker with the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954. He went on to marry his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Ruth A. Weddle on January 17, 1959 in Unionville. She survives.

 Marvin was the loving father to: Cindy L. Murphy - Weddle, Marvin Jr. (wife, Linda) Cody & Allen "Muff" Cody all of Brown County. He was the 6th child of 7 siblings and will be remembered by one sister: Margie (husband, Bob) Withers of Walesboro and one brother: George (wife, Margie) Cody of Columbus. Marvin was cherished by his seven grandchildren:, Allen Cody of Unionville, Gwinn Miller of Salem, Dustin Cody, Amanda Smoot, Crystal Ann Cody, Cody Murphy & Lexie Weddle all of Brown County; 4 great Grandchildren: Addison, Emmi, & McKenzie Cody and Maggie Smoot all of Brown County.

 He was preceded in death by one sister: Millie Thompson and three brothers: William, Howard & James Cody.

 Marvin retired in 1984 from Navistar International after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Brown County Masonic Lodge #135 and former member of the Shrine & Scottish Rite, Eagles Lodge in Columbus and the Moose Lodge of Greenwood. Marvin enjoyed riding his horse "Cinnamon," watching open-wheel & sprint car races and mushroom hunting & berry picking. He loved his family and enjoyed driving his semi.
