Alene E. (Sims) Mayo - Wilcher, age 88 passed away
Thursday afternoon,August 25, 2011 at J ohnson Memorial Hospital in
Franklin. She was a resident of Morgantown.
Alene was born September 30, 1922, in Casey
County, Kentucky to the late Virgil and Edna (Hill) Sims. She
married Charles John Russell Mayo on October 2, 1940 in Johnson
County and he preceded her in death onFebruary 4, 1972. Alene
later married Clarence O. Wilcher on May 12, 1973 in Greenwood. He
preceded her in death onFebruary 19, 1995.
Alene attended the FaithFull Gospel Church
in Bean Blossom. She worked at West Minster Village as a nurse's
aid and cook during the 1970's and 1980's. Alene was an
exceptional cook and known for homemade pies. She loved
reading her Bible, romance novels and enjoyed working word search
puzzles. Alene was a fan of the Indiana Pacers and always there to
help others in need.
She was the loving mother and homemaker to
her daughter: Patty (husband, Max) Fislar of Cloverdale; five
sons: Leonard (wife, Jearlene) Mayo of Brown County, Richard Mayo
of Greencastle, Virgil (wife, Marilyn) Mayo of Greenwood, Stanley
T. (wife, Teresa) Mayo of Southport, Roy (wife, Lynn) Mayo of
Indianapolis. Alene will be missed by her 11 grandchildren,
13 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and
companion: Leon Fox ofMorgantown.
She was preceded in death by her grandson:
Virgil Michael Mayo.
